1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) and Karané (“we,” “us,” or “our”), governing your access to and use of the website karane.in (the “Website”) and any services, products, or content provided therein.

By accessing, browsing, or placing an order on the Website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Return & Exchange Policy, which are incorporated herein by reference. If you do not agree with any provision of these Terms, you must discontinue use of the Website immediately.

2. Eligibility

You represent and warrant that you are at least eighteen (18) years of age and possess the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. By placing an order, you confirm that you meet these eligibility requirements. We reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, or cancel orders at our sole discretion if we have reasonable grounds to believe that a User does not meet the eligibility criteria.

3. Products & Pricing

  • All products listed on the Website are subject to availability. We reserve the right to limit quantities, discontinue products, or restrict sales to certain geographies without prior notice.
  • Prices are denominated in Indian Rupees (₹ / INR) and are inclusive of all applicable taxes, including Goods and Services Tax (GST).
  • We endeavour to display accurate pricing at all times. In the event of a pricing error, we reserve the right to cancel orders placed at an incorrect price, even after order confirmation.
  • Price modifications do not apply retroactively to orders that have already been confirmed and paid for.
  • Product photographs are intended to be representative. Minor variations in colour, texture, or finish may occur due to differences in display settings, lighting conditions, and screen calibration. Such variations shall not constitute a defect or ground for return.

4. User Accounts

  • You may create an account using a valid email address, Google Sign-In, or phone number verification (Firebase SMS OTP). Providing false, misleading, or fraudulent information during registration is strictly prohibited.
  • You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities conducted under your account.
  • You must notify us immediately at support@karane.in if you suspect any unauthorised access to or use of your account.
  • We reserve the right to suspend, deactivate, or permanently terminate any account that violates these Terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or is used for any unlawful purpose, without prior notice or liability.

5. Orders & Payment

  • Placing an order on the Website constitutes an offer to purchase. An order is deemed confirmed only upon successful payment verification and receipt of an order confirmation email with invoice. We reserve the right to accept or decline any order at our sole discretion.
  • We may cancel orders due to stock unavailability, suspected fraud, pricing errors, or violation of these Terms. In such cases, any amount paid will be refunded as store credit or to the original payment method, at our discretion.
  • Online payments are processed securely by Razorpay Software Private Limited, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment gateway. We accept UPI, credit cards, debit cards, net banking, and digital wallets. All payment data is transmitted directly to Razorpay — we never store your card details, CVV, UPI PIN, or banking credentials.
  • Cash on Delivery (COD) is available for eligible orders. An additional handling fee may apply and will be clearly displayed at checkout prior to order placement.
  • All prices displayed at checkout are final, inclusive of taxes. No hidden charges will be applied after order confirmation.

6. Store Credits

  • Store credits may be issued for eligible returns, promotional campaigns, or as compensation at our discretion.
  • Credits are valid for six (6) months from the date of issuance. Expired credits are automatically forfeited and shall not be reinstated under any circumstances.
  • Store credits are non-transferable, cannot be converted to cash, and cannot be applied to COD orders.
  • Credits may be applied towards any purchase on the Website during checkout. If the order total exceeds the available credit balance, the difference must be paid via an accepted payment method.

7. Shipping & Delivery

  • Shipping and logistics are managed by Delhivery and its authorised courier partners.
  • Shipping charges, if applicable, are calculated at checkout based on destination PIN code, order weight, and selected delivery speed. Free shipping may be available on orders exceeding a specified threshold, as displayed on the Website.
  • Estimated delivery timelines are indicative and not guaranteed. Actual delivery dates may vary due to courier operations, weather conditions, public holidays, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
  • Risk of loss and title to products passes to you upon delivery to the shipping address provided.

8. Returns, Exchanges & Refunds

  • Returns and exchanges are accepted within seven (7) calendar days from the date of delivery, subject to the conditions outlined in our Return & Exchange Policy.
  • Items must be unused, unworn, unwashed, and in original condition with all tags and packaging intact.
  • A non-refundable handling fee of ₹99 applies per return or exchange order.
  • All refunds — including for prepaid and COD orders — are issued as store credits valid for six (6) months. No cash refunds or bank transfers will be processed.
  • Shipping charges and COD fees are non-refundable.

9. Product Reviews

  • Registered users may submit product reviews and photographs for items they have purchased.
  • Reviews must be genuine, truthful, and based solely on your personal experience with the product. Reviews containing profanity, hate speech, personal attacks, spam, promotional content, or content that violates any applicable law will be removed without notice.
  • By submitting a review or photograph, you grant Karané a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable licence to use, reproduce, display, modify, and distribute such content across our Website and marketing channels.
  • We reserve the right, but are not obligated, to moderate, edit, or remove any review at our sole discretion.

10. Intellectual Property

All content on the Website — including but not limited to text, images, logos, product photographs, graphic designs, UI elements, source code, and the “KARANÉ” brand name and logo — is the exclusive property of Karané and is protected under the Copyright Act, 1957, the Trade Marks Act, 1999, and other applicable intellectual property laws of India. Unauthorised reproduction, distribution, modification, public display, or commercial use of any such content is strictly prohibited and may result in civil and/or criminal liability.

11. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to engage in any of the following activities:

  • Using the Website for any unlawful, fraudulent, or malicious purpose.
  • Attempting to gain unauthorised access to any system, server, network, or database associated with the Website.
  • Scraping, crawling, or using automated tools to extract content, product data, pricing, or images from the Website.
  • Submitting false, fraudulent, or misleading return or exchange requests.
  • Misusing coupon codes, referral programmes, promotional offers, or store credits.
  • Interfering with the Website’s functionality, performance, or other users’ experience.
  • Impersonating any person or entity, or misrepresenting your affiliation with any person or entity.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Karané, its proprietor, employees, agents, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill) arising out of or in connection with your use of the Website, purchase of products, or reliance on any information provided herein. Our aggregate liability in respect of any claim shall not exceed the purchase price actually paid by you for the specific product(s) giving rise to such claim.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Karané, its proprietor, employees, agents, and partners from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) your use or misuse of the Website; (c) your violation of any applicable law or regulation; or (d) your infringement of any third-party rights.

14. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any delay or failure in performance resulting directly or indirectly from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, epidemics, pandemics, government orders, civil unrest, war, strikes, transport disruptions, supply chain disruptions, or internet/telecommunication failures.

15. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration

Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms, or the breach, termination, or validity thereof, shall first be attempted to be resolved through amicable negotiation between the parties. If the dispute remains unresolved within thirty (30) days, it shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (as amended). The arbitration shall be conducted by a sole arbitrator mutually appointed by the parties. The seat and venue of arbitration shall be Guwahati, Assam, India. The proceedings shall be conducted in English. The arbitral award shall be final and binding on both parties.

16. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Subject to Clause 15 (Arbitration), the courts of Kamrup (Metropolitan), Assam shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any legal proceedings arising out of or in connection with these Terms.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

18. Waiver

The failure of Karané to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms shall be effective only if in writing and signed by Karané.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Return & Exchange Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Karané with respect to your use of the Website and supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, understandings, and agreements, whether written or oral.

20. Amendments

We reserve the right to modify, update, or replace any part of these Terms at any time. Material changes will be indicated by an updated “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically. Continued use of the Website following the posting of changes constitutes your binding acceptance of such changes.
